Jobber vs Housecall Pro: plans, AI and phones

Two job-management platforms for home service shops, each with its own way to answer calls with AI. Here are the plan prices, the phone and text options, and the shop each one suits.

Shops usually land on this comparison after the same moment: a call rings out, and the caller dials a competitor. Both platforms now offer a way to answer that call with AI. They do it differently, and the plan underneath costs different amounts.

Prices and features checked October 2026. Plans and order terms can differ, so confirm your own plan with each company before you add up a total.

The AI receptionist options

Jobber's Receptionist answers calls and texts around the clock, can book, reschedule and cancel visits in your calendar, and can transfer a call to a person. Jobber's own help pages disagree on what is included: the Receptionist page says 30 conversations and $0.79 for each extra one, while the add-on page says 100. Ask Jobber which applies to your plan.

Housecall Pro's CSR AI answers calls and chat 24/7, and can book on your Housecall Pro calendar once your services, availability and booking rules are set. It can pass a caller to a number you choose or to a live HCP Assist agent. Text answering is in alpha, so check what your plan can switch on today.

Phones and texts

If your customers text first, Jobber lists texts next to calls. If they call and use your website chat, Housecall Pro lists chat next to calls. Either way, forward your business line to the AI and test it with a real booking and a real transfer before you rely on it. Plumbing and HVAC shops, where a caller with a leak or a dead furnace will not wait, should run that test first. Our plumbing and HVAC guides show what those first calls look like.

Who Jobber fits

Jobber fits a shop that wants the lower entry price and a plan ladder it can climb. If quotes, scheduling and invoices are still on paper or spread over several tools, Jobber brings that work into one place, and the Receptionist add-on handles calls and texts on top.

Who Housecall Pro fits

Housecall Pro fits a shop that wants to try its top plan free before paying, and that already uses tools like QuickBooks or CallRail. It combines scheduling, dispatch, invoicing and payments, and it also sells live human answering through HCP Assist if you want a person on some calls.

Where SvarKlar fits

We build SvarKlar, so judge our fit yourself. If your shop already runs well on Jobber, Housecall Pro or another system and the one gap is missed calls, you may not need to change platforms or add a plan tier. SvarKlar answers your calls, and a caller you missed gets a text. Frederik sets it up and runs the channels and tasks listed in your written order.

SvarKlar is $295 a month, setup is free, and you can cancel any time. If a full platform is what you need, one of the two above is likely the better answer, and Frederik will say so.
